Todd A. Williams speaks at Hardesty Library
March 18, 2013 - (TULSA, OK) — Tulsa Art Club Alpha Rho Tau meets the 3rd Monday of the months March through November from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Frossard Auditorium in the Hardesty Library, 8316 E 93rd St, Tulsa, OK 74133. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the presentation and sign up for membership.

Monday, March 18th is the first meeting of the year with guest speaker Todd A. Williams, from Siloam Springs, Arkansas who will discuss the “7 Keys to Unlocking a Great Painting.”  Todd will project slides of his oil paintings and give insight into methods of making a great painting, while talking about his travels through Europe working en plein air. Todd is from Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

Todd studied painting and illustration at the Kansas City Art Institute and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He worked as an In-house Senior Artist and Designer for Hallmark Cards and Day Spring Cards. Today, he excels in his ability to paint all subject matter using spontaneous brushwork and creative virtuosity.  Most of the time he can be found painting en plein air (outside). Through this discipline he has found his own recognizable voice, which is now becoming his signature style.
From his European travels to Italy, Vienna, and Prague, Todd created a large collection of work. Santa Maria della Salute, Venice, by Todd A. Williams was picked to receive the First Prize award in the 2013 International Plein-Air Salon Competition which will be presented to Todd during the 2nd Annual Plein Air Convention and Expo in Monterey, California, from April 10-14, 2013. The judge said the painting was “uniquely impressive,” with an “an immense impact on a small and perfect scale.” “There is superb atmospherics in the epic subject and view, and the painting is full of delicate details.”

Williams' work has been exhibited across the US in gallery, museum, and invitational exhibitions, such as the Gilcrease Museum, the Great Plains Art Museum, Montgomery Museum Of Fine Arts, "The American Miniatures Show", Settlers West Gallery, The Maynard Dixon Museum, Cincinnati’s Great American Artists Exhibition, and the Oil Painters of America National and Regional Exhibitions where he has been honored with the prestigious status of a Signature Member.
He has won an "Award of Excellence" at the National OPA Exhibition in Santa Fe, NM, and the "Second Place Award" from the American Impressionist Society in their National Exhibition at Palm Desert, CA.   The International Artist Magazine featured his work from “Vienna and Prague” and Todd had a featured article in the Fine Art Connoisseur. Todd received national and international recognition for his art through a feature article in Southwest Art and  International Artist Magazine selected him for "Master Painters of the World" in the United States Showcase.
His galleries include: The Sage Creek Gallery, Santa Fe, NM; Whistle Pik Galleries, Fredericksburg, TX; Howard/Mandville Gallery, Kirkland, WA; Bayview Gallery, Brunswick and Camden, ME; and The Weatherburn Gallery, Naples, FL. More of his work can been seen at: www.toddwilliamsfineart.com
