ART NEWSLETTER MAY 2018

ART Meeting. Monday May 21 at 6:30 at Hardesty Regional Library.

Program: A rare treat! A silversmith!

Rachel Rose is an amazing young talent. She grew up in the Kendal-Whittier area, attended the Tulsa School for the Arts and also studied with Bill Derrevere. Her silversmithing work is both traditional and unconventional. Preferring natural textures with a muted finish her artisan jewelry line reflects the natural world from which she draws inspiration. She creates jewelry with complex layers difficult or impossible to achieve with modern mass-production methods. Each unique piece is formed by hand and a true work of art. Google her name and look at dillonrose.net to see some impressive pieces.

PLEIN AIR TULSA! PAINTING IN THE OSAGE REPORT FOR MAY from Linda Dunbar
We have a good number of people signed up already. Our committee is working hard to make it a successful three day event. Post Oak Lodge has invited us to have a group to come out and Plein Air Paint during the Wine and Jazz festival. I will be organizing a list of artist and putting details together later this summer. We have just received word that Plein Air Magazine will be giving us three subscriptions to their magazine and Rosemary Brush Company is donating a $100 brush bouquet.

The Oklahoma Sculpting Society of Tulsa will be participating in Plein Air Tulsa! this year. They will give $100 for a sculpting prize. I am hoping to match that so it will encourage more sculptors to compete. They will be judged separate from all other mediums.
We still need sponsors to help cover the cost of the reception, extras for swag bags, printing and gift for artists. Sponsors will have their names listed on our publication and all publicity items.

FACEBOOK REPORT FOR MAY
We need artist to send new work for their albums. Anyone can create an album on Facebook with no more than 14 pieces.

Sapulpa Arts is gearing up for our 30th Anniversary and Arts Show on June 2, art turn in is June 1. I have mailed paper copies to those I have addresses for and I am following up with emailed PDF for those I may have missed. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Keep creating and I can’t wait to see what comes through my door this year.
