Alpha Rho Tau Newsletter October 2012

Alpha Rho Tau Newsletter
October 2012

WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM
There are six critical positions that need to be filled on the ART board for the 2013 year. The positions open are President, Vice President, Exhibits Chairman, Hostess, Newsletter Publisher and Raffle Chairman.  Unless we have members volunteer for these positions, we will not have a viable organization and may have to disband.  Current board members are willing to mentor their replacements.  To volunteer for any of these positions call Sandi Willhite at (918) 398-7660.

Next General Meeting is October 15, 2012
The next meeting of Alpha Rho Tau will be held at 6:30 Monday evening, October 15th, at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St., Tulsa.

Programs
Everyone really enjoyed September’s speaker, Gil Adams, who did a fabulous oil demo of plein art techniques for landscapes.  October’s program will be Dian Church on Three Dimensional Painting.

Door Prizes
Congratulations to Sandy Willhite for winning the wonderful portable wooden easel donated by Deborah Kingsbury. Unfortunately, due to the excitement of winning the silk flower arrangement, donated by Jacque Gonzales and a door prize by Delores Creekmore, I neglected to write down the names of the other two door prize winners.  I’ll try to do better at our next meeting!

Our door prizes for October are a gorgeous floral watercolor by Mary Oswald, an abstract by Sharon Allred, a delightful butterfly and rustic wind mill watercolor both by Kathy Lamb and donated by Karen Lamb.  The framing of our door prizes is by Jacque Gonzales, courtesy of Ziegler’s.  Be sure to sign in for your winning chance.

October Hospitality News
Thank you! We appreciate all the members who signed up to be “Cookie Angels” and “Table-Scape Decorators!!” We will be passing around the sign-up sheets for 2013 at our October meeting!

If you are an “Angel,” please remember that we need 3 dozen sweets (brownies, mini muffins, cookies, or any treat of your choice) for the meeting.  “Decorators” plan on arriving a little early (6:15), so we can set up the table for all our “Angels” and members. Our Oct. 15th meeting “Decorator” will be Deborah Kingsbury and our “Angels” are: Jean Kelly, Mary Maslanka, Donna Powell, and Carol Mulcare.

Thanks to our Sept. “Angels”: Maria Reynolds, Elnora Herron, Hannelore Ramanayake, and Deborah Kingsbury. Many thanks to our decorator Mary Oswald for bringing a lovely flower arrangement. Big Hugs to Delores Wadsworth for her yummy Nutty Chocolate Crackers!
Thanks again and we’ll see you at our October meeting!

Christmas Brunch and Ornament Exchange
Our October meeting will be the time for you to sign up and receive a Christmas bulb to decorate for our Christmas Brunch and Ornament Exchange.  Since we have limited room, this event is for MEMBERS ONLY.  You will be ordering off The First Watch menu and can have a great meal for under $10.00.   We will meet at 11:00 AM in their private room on Saturday, Dec. 1st at the Lewis and 81st street location.  Plan on joining the fun!
