Pre-Registration: Plein Air Tulsa! 2019 is the
third annual event sponsored by Tulsa Civic Art Association, Alpha Rho Tau. It is open to all artists age18 and over.
Preregistration by September 1, 2019 Entry fees:
$50.00 - Alpha Rho Tau members
$60.00 - non-members
After September 1st and Onsite:
$60.00 - Alpha Rho Tau members
$70.00 - non-members
Early registration will make check-in easier and
quicker on event day.
*Late applications and those who enter the day
of the event will be subject to a $10 late fee.
Registration

and pay entry fee in order to participate in event. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Greet” for a chance to shop after hours at Zieglers. become oriented, pick up

artist participating.

At check-in each artist will have their canvas/paper stamped and will receive a
packet including: identification badge,
suggested sites of interest, maps, sponsor gifts and brochures.

Material
Requirements: All media will be accepted
and must be painted/drawn/ sculpted and completed outdoors during the Plein Air Tulsa 2019 event.
•
Blank canvas and art paper must be stamped and certified by ART at time
of check- in. Sculpture must be checked in and photographed.
•
Unlimited number of canvas and art paper may be stamped and certified,
but artist may submit only TWO FRAMED entries for
competition.
•
ART certification stamp must be visible on back of each completed
painting in all media submissions of
artwork for competition. Watercolor
paper may be stamped in the front so it is visible or checked in before
framing.
Framing: Work must be appropriately framed, mounted and
have wire for hanging. (i.e., no stained
mats, alligator or saw tooth hangers, masking tape, duct tape etc.) Unframed
art will not be accepted for judging. Framing stations and helpers will be available
after check in.
Artwork Pricing: Artist are responsible for handling their sales
and sales tax collection. No commissions
are collected by Post Oak Lodge or by Alpha Rho Tau.
Bonus
Opportunity: The
top Artists chosen by judge, will be invited via email to show their submitted
piece in a special display during the month of November at The Post Oak Art
Gallery in the main lodge. Pieces may be
priced for sale, if the artist wishes.
Judging: Day One and Day Two paintings will be checked in
at check in point at The Post Oak Lodge on Saturday, before or by 3pm ON THE DOT to be cleared for judging.
No late
entries accepted after 3pm.
Day Three Sunrise over Tulsa painting
activities that morning. Reception and
sale 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm in the Great Hall at The Post Oak Lodge

DAY 1 - AT DUSK
Nocturnal
Painting - Ever wanted a chance to try night painting? It is all the rage with Plein Air Artist and
so much fun. You can create some really
high quality, low key artworks. Prizes
will be awarded to the best of the nocturnal artist!
Cost $10 (8 x 10) inch Linen Primed Panels will be
provided to participating artist. We will gather at the cabins and enjoy a
snack before taking off to paint. Bring
a frame to pop your artwork in and they will have a special display on Sunday
at the Awards Reception.
DAY 2 - 4PM-5-PM
Quick Draw: $10 and a
Little Ambition!
For a $10 fee this event will take
place on or near the front area of Post Oak Lodge, starting from 4:00 to
5:00pm. Artists will paint within
eyesight the area of Ziegler's. An 8x10
panel will be furnished to each participating artist. Artists will display their completed
paintings on their easels promptly at 5:00 pm for judging by Leonard Wren. Winner
takes all the $10 entry fees. Plein Air
Tulsa! Artist are not required to participate in the Quick Draw. Bring a frame
to pop your artwork in and they will have a special display on Sunday at the
Awards Reception.
What is the
Quick Draw? --
A timed event generally in a very specific spot where winner takes all. They are usually a lot of fun and give the
judges time to prepare awards.
DAY 3 - 7AM
- UNTIL Sunrise Painting - Join us Sunday
morning at the crack of dawn for a chance to paint the sunrise at The Post Oak
Lodge. There are beautiful vistas and
views from the grounds of Post Oak perfect to paint the sunrise. God willing, it will be a beauty, but if not we will use
our artistic license. Prizes will be
awarded to the best of the sunrise artist!
Cost $10 (8 x 10) inch Linen Primed Panels will be
provided to participating artist.
Remember to bring a frame to pop
your artwork in and they will have a special display on Sunday at the Awards
Reception.
Lodging - We have a limited number of rooms
for a reduced price, blocked off for Friday and Saturday night at, The Post Oak
Lodge.

2019”, are not liable for loss or damage to artwork, or for any personal injury
incurred during participation in this event.
Artists are responsible for insurance of his/her artwork. Artists must be aware of traffic in all
locations while painting. Artists may not block traffic or entrances to any
businesses while painting. Entry in this
event implies agreement to all rules and terms stated in this 2019 prospectus.

Special Workshop with
Leonard Wren October 22 - 24, 2019
“Having
an idea that drives the reason for your
painting is critical”
The
central focus for this plein air workshop with Leonard Wren will be expressing your idea through design. Elements
of design such as Unity, Balance and Rhythm will be discussed along
with
classic impressionistic techniques. Participants will be challenged to paint
the expression of their ideas boldly with a design in mind, with larger
canvases and with lots of paint!
(No small
canvases – 12 x 16” or larger. No tiny
puddles of paint!)
Wren has taught plein air painting nationally
and internationally. “For the first 7 years of my painting career, I painted
from life exclusively.”
