UTICA SQUARE ART SHOW---What a great new place we had to show, we need to give credit where credit is due.  Jacque Gonzales, Advisor in A.R.T. had a large part in securing the new area for our group.  Janette Head said months ago that when she wanted to change our location at Utica, Jacque Gonzales was the only one who encouraged her to follow her instinct since she was the new exhbitis chairman.  Then of course, it took having a connection to get a premuim spot, that's where  Current A.R.T. President Vinicio Perez came in and helped get us an assigned spot in the center of things, and under an awning...So it is with great thanks and gratitude to Jaque Gonzales and Vinicio Perez for forever changing the area in which A.R.T. can now show at Utica.  We received many responses back from people who said it was good not to have to be near a back alley, and get their paintings wet because there was no covering....So, everyone, plan to get your art work ready for next year! We have an awning and a space in a central location near everything, and a lot of traffic to bring you a lot of buyers!

DID YOU KNOW  ?
You can have your artistic creations and images captured professionally in several places and reproduced in many ways.

If you would like to be able to make a professional portfolio like our August Speaker and Willowbrush Gallery Owner  Rachel  Wimpey was talking about….
(Having your art in a professional portfolio in proofs and/or CD’s to submit to a gallery)

You can reproduce your artwork and artistic creations for others to enjoy, whether it’s by creating Giclees’ (copies of your original art), magnets, postcards, coffee mugs, mouse pads, aprons, bags, plaques, coasters, cutting boards, and even lamp shades…..along with a host of other options available.

There are several places around town that can capture and reproduce your images for your portfolio, however, you want to make sure it is done with QUALITY, and INK that will last. Sometimes you may find a place that is cheaper, but it may use a lower quality ink, paper, or product and not provide long lasting, vivid color you are hoping for.

Just think about it….Christmas is coming and professional portfolios are needed…..

Maybe you can recreate your art work and make some nice Christmas presents for your family, neighbors, co-workers, or friends…

Several of our Alpha Rho Tau Members go to one particular favorite here in Tulsa.

Here’s the name of one Great Place to have that done…and they are Alpha Rho Tau Members Also:

Jan and Dewey Douglas
IN Graphic Detail
918-665-2947
Email:   ingraphicdetail@cox.net
By appointment only...

Call or contact them via email, they can send you a great brochure of all the products they have available to make for you.

They have an amazing printing facility and updated state of the art equipment to help you create your professional portfolios and reproduce your art.

Alpha Rho Tau Newsletter

  July 2013

Happy July 4th!  A day to give thanks for our independence!   “Thank You” to all the men and women who have served our country, it is because of them that we have our freedoms and can grow stronger as a country and we are grateful.
It’s also a good time to reflect and say “Thank You” to all the men and women who have volunteered to serve in leadership positions in any capacity in our Tulsa A.R.T. throughout its 82 years of existence. Without you, this club would not be possible.  It takes a lot of volunteers to make a meeting work: hospitality, membership, treasurer, exhibits, phone callers, people who do the work of setting up and tearing down the meeting room every month…and we are grateful to all of you for your hard work and dedication which makes this club what it is.  We hope and expect that each year will be better than the previous and we can grow with the changing trends of our society, while holding on to the traditions that make our foundation strong!
I’ve given a lot of praise to our current leadership for their hard work and dedication, and teamwork is what makes the dream work!  All those who volunteer are so appreciated. Sometimes the people out in front get a lot of credit, but we all know without you, it would not work!
This year, there have been some new changes in speakers, but I want you to know that all the speakers we have had in the past are wonderful.  I do feel the need to clarify a statement I made in the last email, so no feelings will be hurt.  When I say we have “higher caliber” speakers this year, and our President and VP are working hard this year, I am not saying that any of our past speakers or volunteers were not good quality or working hard…
I am saying that We are fortunate to have some speakers coming this year that haven’t done speaking engagements before, or they are hard to get…and they are agreeing to come to A.R.T. this year due to some great networking and contacts. It’s exciting to have speakers that have never spoken at A.R.T. before, and the speakers we have coming this year have a broad range of experiences, talents and accomplishments. They have traveled internationally, worked for companies or been chosen out of thousands in the nation to be honored for their artistic creations, and we in turn honor them and their life experiences: cultural differences, and exposure to people, places, and life  which takes them out of the ordinary and places them in an extraordinary category as seasoned artists.
The goal of our new President and Vice-President is to bring to you new speakers that can challenge your growth as an artist and give you golden nuggets that can enhance your skills and training in any medium you work in, and we hope that each year will be better than the past year….not discounting the previous years, but adding to and enhancing the foundation and hard work already done.
And, WE HOPE that next year will be better than this year and every year better than that.
Like flowers, we grow and bloom every year and this year is blooming and booming at A.R.T.
DID YOU KNOW?   Alpha Rho Tau is going social and we are on facebook now!

Alpha Rho Tau Newsletter, February 2013

Special Announcement -- February 2013

It's a New Year at  A.R.T.!   We Welcome You Back!

We've got a lot of new speakers and upcoming events happening this year and right now....

Good News !

Since many of you requested another Spring Show, we are going to have an A.R.T. Miniature Show in April. This show will be held at Ziegler’s in the Art Supplies building.

The exhibit is open to all A.R.T. members in good standing.  In order to participate, your membership dues must be paid in full for 2013.  All membership application forms are available on our website and may be sent with your dues via postal mail as instructed online, or paid at the meeting on March 18.

  • We will not be restricted by the amount of miniatures that can be hung, so the good news is, you can enter up to four miniatures in this show, but all paintings must be for sale.
  • The entry fees are also going to be “mini” as well:  only $5.00 per painting!
  • More Good News:  you will also have an Artists’ Reception and invitations for this event!
  • The deadline for entry is on March 25. No entries will be accepted after that
We will be accepting entry forms and checks at our March 18th Alpha Rho Tau meeting. To beat the rush, you can send your entries prior to that date to Byrene Culver, 8006 S. 75th. E. Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74133.

Entry Guidelines and Release of Liability/Entry forms are attached for your convenience and also posted online.

(For those new to the club: a miniature is an original painting 9”x12” canvas or smaller. Any size frame may be used with your entry, but all entries MUST follow entry guidelines attached, so PLEASE follow instructions carefully.)

This is a great way to start the year, so get those brushes working on those miniatures. Let’s make this show a success by having each member enter at least one miniature!!

WE HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM
There are six critical positions that need to be filled on the ART board for the 2013 year. The positions open are President, Vice President, Exhibits Chairman, Hostess, Newsletter Publisher and Raffle Chairman.  Unless we have members volunteer for these positions, we will not have a viable organization and may have to disband.  Current board members are willing to mentor their replacements.  To volunteer for any of these positions call Sandi Willhite at (918) 398-7660.

Next General Meeting is October 15, 2012
