Art on the Utica Square

Monday, August 20th is the deadline for your Art in the Square at Utica entry forms, if you haven’t already emailed them to Byrene!  You can down load the forms from our web site, or from the newsletter, and Norman will have a few forms available at our meeting.  Remember, you can enter 3 paintings for only $10.00 plus 1 hour of your time at the square.

Door Prizes

Congratulations to Delores Creekmore for winning Joyce Peace’s happy rooster and Bill Oswald for winning the little country church by Delores Wadsworth. The professional framing of our door prizes is by Jacque Gonzales, courtesy of Ziegler’s. Our door prizes for August are gorgeous fall oil by Mary Maslanka and a classic print by Marc Chagall titled, Fiddler on the Roof, donated by Karin Cermak. Next General Meeting is August 20, 2012

Our next General Meeting will be held Monday, August 20th.  The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. , Tulsa , OK .  We will be meeting back in our regular room at the Hardesty Library. We do have good air conditioning, so beat the heat with us at our meeting.

Programs

Everyone really enjoyed July’s speaker; Jim Roaix’s presentation of his art work in Breathing Life into Stone.

Our August speaker will be Richard Coones and the title of the presentation will be "The Technique of Perspective Drawing".  Richard will explain methods of constructing an image with perspective, what is essential tool to create an illusion of 3D on a 2D plane and show how they are used by artists.  Richard is from Tulsa , Ok.

August Hospitality News

Thank you! We appreciate all the members who signed up to be “Cookie Angels” and “Table-Scape Decorators!!”

 If you are an “Angel,” please remember that we need 3 dozen sweets (brownies, mini muffins, cookies, or any treat of your choice) for the meeting.  “Decorators” plan on arriving a little early (6:15), so we can set up the table for all our “Angels” and members. Our  Aug. 20th meeting “Decorator” will be Jacque Gonzales and our Aug. “Angels” are: Loretta Bailey, Deborah Kingsbury, Mary Oswald and Carol Mulcare.

 Thanks to our July “Angels”: Sandy Willhite, Cindy Crowley and Ida Mae Sells.  Many thanks to Sandy for her bright & happy patriotic table!

Raffles

HELP Our Regular Raffle

As indicated we do have special raffles.  However, each month we have a raffle of smaller items of interest/use to artists.  Take a look in your studios or where ever you paint for some goodies you are not using; frames, brushes, canvasses, paints, any misc. art supplies.  Bring them to our raffle table; you’ll have more room and we’ll have goodies for the club.  Proceeds from the raffles go to the scholarship fund.  Thanks!

On Line Gallery

Do you have your work in our On Line Gallery???  We would like ALL of you put in 3 examples of your art work.  This is so simple to do!  Just send copies of your art work in jpg. format to Bill Oswald, our amazing Web Wizard, at m.oswald@cox.net and he will do the rest!  If you have your own web site, he can direct the viewers to your site for additional paintings.

Members Showing

We have five members currently showing their original art work.

1.  Karin Cermak and Joyce Sandifer are showing their original paintings at the First Pryority Bank, 10632 South Memorial, Tulsa , through August 31st, 2012.

2. Janette Head, Ruth Murdock, and Mary Maslanka have their art work on display at Dooley's Angus Inn , 201 South Main, Broken Arrow . They are three of six artists whose works were incorporated into the decorative design of the restaurant. Show and sale of the art continues through September 13th.

September Board Meeting will be Thursday, September 6th

The ART Board Meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept.6th due to the Labor Day holiday.  We’ll meet at Ziegler’s; our regular time at 10:30 am and goodies will be provided!
