 ALPHA RHO TAU MEMBERS MEETING


APRIL 18, 6:30 p.m. Frossard Auditorium at the Hardesty Library  at 93rd and Memorial. Our presenter will be Patricia Bradley a fine artist in charcoal, pastels, oil and acrylics. Don't miss hearing what this wonderful artist has to show and teach us!

Renew your membership or join us for the first time. Membership forms are in the side of this post and membership is $35 for the year.

And remember to sign up for our 2022 Plein Air Tulsa Brush Creek Paint Out on April 30. Entry fee is $25.

Our May meeting will be May 16 at Hardesty Library. If you are a member by May 16, you may join us in exhibiting your work at the HIVE in Jenks from June 7 to June 30. Entries are $15 for your first piece and $10 for the second. (There is an additional $5 fee for entries over 30 x 30). Limit two entries per artist.


2022 Plein Air Tulsa! “Brush Creek Paint-Out”

            This is the fourth annual, Plein air event sponsored by Tulsa Civic Art Association,                          Alpha Rho Tau (a 501(c)(3)org).  This event is open to all artists ages 18 and over.

Event location:  BRUSH CREEK,   Near South Yale and East 111 Street;                        Address: 10900 S. Louisville, Tulsa, OK (between Harvard and Yale Avenue)

This Painting Event will take place entirely on the Brush Creek property.   

 It’s located inside one of the first Ranches established on Indian Territory in 1898. Since the 1970’s, Brush-Creek has been the site of the annual “Brush Creek Bazaar” site of the “1972, Roy Clark, Christmas Special”.                                                                 This beautiful and well-preserved 22 acre plot of land is nestled secretly in the rolling hills of South Tulsa.It has stock-pond, ancient trees, a hundred-year-old “Normandy Style” Barn and much more! Complete with modern restrooms on site! There is good parking for all, with the best parking-area reserved for our early-birds.

REGISTRATION   Open to all artists (members and non-members). All artists must register with completed application and pay the entry fee in order to participate in event. Registration fees are non-refundable.

PRE-REGISTER by April 18, 2022                                                                                                            Early-bird entry fee: $25.00 – Members and Non-Members                                                                LATE REGISTRATION: after April 18th and Onsite:  $35.                                                                                 Your Early Registration will make check-in easier and quicker on event day.

·         You may register on March 21 / April 18 at our Monthly A.R.T. Members Meetings                              at Hardesty Library,   8316 E. 93rd St. Tulsa, OK.    5:30- 8: 00pm

·         Late applications and those who enter on day of the event will be subject to a $10 late fee.   Please Pre-register by April 18 if possible.

MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS All media will be accepted and must be painted/drawn and completed on-site during the Plein Air Tulsa 2022 event. Blank canvas and art paper must be stamped and certified by A.RT at time of check-in. 

·         At check-in each artist will have their canvas/paper stamped and will receive a packet including: identification badge, maps, sponsor gifts and brochures.

·         Unlimited number of canvas and art paper may be stamped and certified but artist may submit only ONE FRAMED entry for competition.    

·          A.R.T. Certification stamp must be visible on back of each completed painting in all media submissions of artwork for competition. Watercolor paper may be stamped in the front so it is visible or checked in before framing. 

Plein Air Tulsa! “Brush Creek Paint-Out” (2022).  Best of Show, Second and Third Place award-winners will have the opportunity to exhibit their pieces in a place of Recognition at A.R.T. “Summer Show at the Hive” June 7-30, 2022 (HIVE conducts sales, charges 30% commission). All unsold art at the Hive must be picked up on June 30, 10am to12pm.

FRAMING:  Artwork must be appropriately framed, mounted and wired for hanging (i.e., no stained mats, no alligator/saw-toothed hangers, masking tape or duct tape, etc). Your name and ph # must be written on back. 

ARTWORK PRICING: Artists are responsible for handling their sales and sales tax collection.  No commissions are collected by Brush Creek Challenge or Alpha Rho Tau.

BONUS OPPORTUNITY * Plein Air pieces winning “Best of Show”, 2nd and 3rd Places and “Quick Draw” will/can be hung  in a prestigious place at the SUMMER SHOW AT THE HIVE, 2022 in Jenks, OK  June 7-30, 2022.

JUDGING: Paintings will be turned in before 3:00 ON THE DOT to be cleared for judging,                  at Headquarters/Normandy Barn on event day. No late entries accepted after 3pm

AWARDS, PRIZES, AND MONEY: “Best of Show”, 2nd and Third places will be awarded (Monetary Prizes will depend on the number of Entrants/Sponsors and money collected.)        Specifics on awards and prizes will be coming soon.

PRE - EVENT ORIENTATION – FRIDAY NIGHT/APRIL 29TH 5:30 – 7:30PM

All artists are invited to attend the “Meet and Greet” at Ziegler’s Art and Frame                                     at 6 N. Lewis, for a chance to shop for art supplies after hours.  5:30 to 8pm.                                   Pick-up your packet including: 2022 Rules, Maps and Schedule of events.  Come                        enjoy shopping and meeting the other artists participating.     Masks and social-                                distancing are recommended until further notice.

 

QUICK DRAW   (Special event) at the Brush Creek Paint-Out   4pm to 5:00pm

·         Quick Draw entry: $10 and a little ambition.  

·         The Quick Draw event will take place at Brush Creek from 4 to 5:00pm.                                  

·         Each artist should provide their own 8” x 10” art panel or paper that they will be using.                It must be stamped with the A.R.T. Certification stamp prior to the Quick Draw event.

·         Plein Air Tulsa Artists are not required to participate in the Quick Draw.  The Quick Draw event is open to everyone age 18 and over.         

·         Artists will display their completed “Quick Draw” drawing or painting on their easels promptly at 5:00pm at a designated judging area. A frame/a mat are requested for Q.Draw.

·         Winner takes all! And winning Quick-Draw may be exhibited at the HIVE Summer Show.                                              

·         All Judges’ decisions are final.

Alpha Rho Tau is a civic art association established c.1930 in Tulsa, OK where we strive to promote and foster the Arts, awarding a scholarship to a young artist each year.

The undersigned understands and agrees that neither Alpha Rho Tau, Plein Air Tulsa/ event sponsors and individuals involved in the “2022 Plein Air Tulsa! “Brush Creek, Paint-Out” event are not liable for loss or damage to artwork or for any personal injury incurred during participation in this event. 

It is agreed that during this event, individual artists will manage their own sales with no commission being taken; however, artists are requested to come to sales table with their buyer so sales may be record.  Cash, check or credit card (if artist has the capability) may be used to purchase art pieces. It is also agreed that after the Brush Creek Paint-Out, A.R.T. would like to exhibit the award-winning pieces in a prestigious place at our SUMMER SHOW AT THE HIVE in Jenks, OK June 7-30, 2022. (Any/all artwork sold at the Hive is subject to a 30% commission).

Liability, theft, damage: All precautions will be taken to safeguard artists and their artwork during this event.  Artists are responsible for insurance of his/her artwork. Entry in this event implies agreement to all rules and terms stated in this 2022 prospectus.
