It is hard to know where to start this month! Matt Moffett is the presenter at our meeting next week. This Friday you can come see lots of work by our own members! Quite a week.

Member’s Art Show reception. Boston Avenue Methodist Church, 1301 S Boston Ave

Friday, November 16 from 6-8 pm. in the Foyer of the Great Hall.

Parking lots are North and West of the church.  

Enter the North entrances and the Bishop's Hall entrance. 

The 13th St. entrance is a handicapped entrance on the lower level is available.  

          There will be seating in the library.

           

Next meeting November 19, 2018. Our presenter will be the esteemed Matt Moffett.

Cookies and treats for the meeting:

If you are an “Angel,” please remember that we need 3 dozen healthy snacks (nuts, dried fruits, grapes, cheese etc.) or cookies (muffins, brownies, pretzels etc.) for the meeting.  “Decorators” plan on arriving a little early (6:15), so we can set up the table for all our “Angels” and members.  Decorator will be Nanda Thompson. 

Karen St. Clair, Carol Wise and Linda Alred will bring healthy snacks and cookies.

 If you are a member in attendance at the meeting, please thank these ladies.



Another rare opportunity!!! Last chance to buy $5 raffle tickets for a graphite portrait painted by Karen St. Clair - 1 person/1 pet. Tickets sold for $5 a piece at September, October, November meeting. Drawing at November meeting in time for holiday gift giving.



$$$$It’s time to think about paying your dues…

 Yearly membership dues are from January through December and are $35.00. You can start paying your dues for the 2019 year now. In order to be included in our membership book dues must be paid by March 1. Deadline for updated contact info and photos is also March 1. See the following for more info.

For new members: Each year ART puts together a membership booklet in which photos and contact information is included. Please send a digital head shot photo to  Joey Frisillo at  jfrisillo@cimtel.net  for inclusion in our book. I can also accept a photo via text but make sure to identify yourself when sending to me at 918-724-4832. If needed, a physical photo may be sent to Joey Frisillo, 1187 Bayshore Dr, Sand Springs, OK 74063. It will be returned if requested.

The Deadline for the Artist Documentary Project has come and gone.

If you have not already applied, (if you have applied thru ART or TAG, ignore this)

it's not too late to be considered to be an Alternate Candidate for AlphaRhoTau.

An alternate will be asked to fill in if one of the subjects cannot fulfill the requirements of filming. 

Scheduling conflicts between the artists and filmmakers do occur. 

Because the students will be graded on this project, we need a back-up. 

There is an opening for one more.

IF you are member of both AlphaRhoTau Civic Art Assoc (A.R.T.) and Tulsa Artists Guild (TAG), you can only apply through One group; the choice is yours.

Only those who have not yet been a subject of the Project can apply. If you have already been featured, you Can recommend another member of A.R.T. by submitting their name via email to:

Member in good standing

First, are you currently a member in Good Standing with your AlphaRhoTau yearly

membership dues Paid? Do you plan to be in AlphaRhoTau Civic Art Assoc. in 2019 ? If your answer is Yes proceed. IF not & you wish to be part of this project, pay the dues immediately to the Treasurer of AlphaRhoTau for the remainder of 2018, to qualify for consideration for 2019.

Also 2019 dues must be paid prior to filming. In Jan of 2019 the treasurer will be asked to verify that the candidates selected are members in good standing with AlphaRhoTau. Failure to have your dues paid will forfeit your chance.

Be Available The students will be graded on this project. You must accommodate their schedule. You must supply current contact information.
You must be available in the allotted times the students have scheduled for filming in February of 2019.

There cannot be any delays or an alternate Artist will be chosen.

   

*You will need to commit to attending the Premiere Tues, April 23, 2019

You would need to allow the student videographers into your homes and/or studios while you’re creating your art in whatever media you work with. You would then be interviewed—not while you’re working—either before or after they’ve filmed you working. What you say in the interviews would then be combined with shots of you working to create the finished artist video profiles. You would need to be flexible enough, to allow the student videographers to return if necessary for a follow-up shoot.

Alpha Rho Tau General Meeting Minutes

October 15, 2018



President, Randy Oxley opened the meeting at 6:30p.m.

One new member was introduced as well as guests.



A motion was made by Sandi Wilhite and 2nd by Charlotte Lough to approve the minutes from the September meeting, approved by all.



Thank you to the table decorator, Kay Holmes and the Cookie Angels:  Phyllis Ogilvie, Shelly DePriest, Randy Oxley and Becky Deed.



Charlene Pennington gave the treasurer report:  Beginning balance-$7643.93, Deposits-$235.00(Plein Air entry fees, Expenses-$474.47(Speaker and Plein Air supplies), Ending balance-$7404.46.  Scholarship Fund-$3067.00.  Members to date:  132



Plein Air Tulsa/Linda Dunbar announced that almost 50 artists have sign up for this years show.



Gary Cupp announced the slate of officers and committee chair persons to be presented for next year.



Todd Sparks announced that the deadline for the Boston Ave Show is tonight.  Drop off will be November 9th from 8 to 10a.m., the reception will be held November 16th from 6-8p.m. and pick up will be November 30th from 8-10a.m.

Karen St. Clair, Vice President introduced our guest speaker/artist Dale Martin,  he demonstrated a landscape in Pastels.  After the demo, Karen announced that our  presenter for November  will be Matt Moffett who is famous for pet portraits.



Tom Sowell won the 16X20 print from In Graphic Detail and Robert Freeman won the 2nd prize.



If you would like to donate a painting for next month’s door prize, Ziegler’s will frame it at no cost.



The next general meeting will be November 19th at 6:30p.m.

ALPHA RHO TAU GENERAL MEETING MINUTES,

SEPTEMBER 17, 2018



Meeting called to order at 6:28 pm by Randy Oxley, presiding President.

Randy welcomed all attendees and asked for new members and guest. Norma Ewing introduced herself as a guest.

Randy thanked table decorator, Phyllis Snyder and Cookie Angels, Matt Smith, Richard Coones, Judy Bridwell, & Meredith Hoosier.



Announcements:

-Women Artists of the West (WAOW) exhibit will be at the Price Tower gallery, Bartlesville, 9/20-11/4. opening reception, Friday, September 21, 6-8. Free and open to public.  ART members Joey Frisillo, Lori Rauchwerger and Nancy Harkin have been juried into the exhibit along with several other Oklahoma artists.

-Holiday brunch to be held December 15, 2018, 11-1 at Bread & Butter, 51st Street, just east of Harvard.

-Currently exhibiting at Phillips Seminary, Sandy Wilhite and Karen Lamb, thru Oct.

-Currently exhibiting at Post Oak Lodge, Janie Crean, Jo Beth Force, Randy Oxley, thru mid Oct.

-Ken Brown has been juried into Small Works, Great Wonders at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in OKC, reception Nov 3, exhibit through Nov 25.



Randy called for a motion to approve minutes for August 20, 2018 general meeting as published via email. Janie Crean made motion, Karin Cermak seconded. passed unanimously.



Charlene Pennington, Treasurer, presented Treasurer’s report: beginning balance, $6,906.96; deposits, $504.00; expenses, $409.07; ending balance, $7,001.89.  Scholarship fund - $2,868.00. Currently 128 members. Report filed.



Lori Raucherger, Director of artists videos, reported on artists documentaries to be filmed by Jenks high school film class students, under supervision of Clifton Raphael, Director of the program. Videos will be share - three videos of TAG members, three videos of ART members. Premier showing of videos and voting for winners will take place April 23, 2019, 6-8 pm at Hardesty Library. Members in good standing are asked to submit an application when received, if interested, so selection process can begin soon. Filming will take place shortly after the first of 2019. Lori showed Alma Rankin’s three min video, filmed in 2016.



Linda Dunbar, Plein air Chair, reported on Plein air Tulsa, Painting the Osage, October 19-21, 2018.

Post Oak Lodge will be advertising a “Wet Paint Sale” on their website.  Open to the public on Sunday, Oct 21, 2-4, in Post Oak gallery.

A 60 second commercial for Plein air Tulsa will play on the RSU channel 80 times, Sept 15 - Oct 15, paid for by the Osage Travel and Tourism Board.  Linda played the commercial for attendees to see.



Matt Smith, Bargain Table Chair, announced that there will be a raffle for a graphite portrait painted by Karen St. Clair - 1 person/1 pet. Tickets sold for $5 a piece at September, October, November meeting. Drawing at November meeting in time for holiday gift giving.



Janie Crean, Advisor, announced a Fine Art Swap for October general meeting. Members asked to bring an original piece of work to the meeting. Numbers will be drawn and each person who brings art will be able to choose a piece from what is available.



Todd Sparks, Exhibits Chair, announced that tonight is the deadline to submit for Art in the Square at Utica. Held Saturday, October 6.  Annual, judged, members exhibit will be at Boston Avenue Methodist Church. Delivery date November 2, 10:00 am. Reception to be announced.



Beverly Forrester announced Broken Arrow Rose Festival 3 day event, Friday May 31-June 2nd. Partnering with “Chalk it Up” street artists. Booths available for individuals as well as groups.  Rose art contest will be held in the Broken Arrow Museum.



Art sharing - Matt Smith shared two Plein air pieces he has painted recently.

Karen St Clair, VP/Program Chair, introduced speaker Sharon Allred.  Topic”Art of Healing”. Sharon spoke about her art journey and the development of the “Art of Healing” Program at Hillcrest Hospital.  She showed many large and small pieces with different techniques, products and on different supports. 



Kaen St Clair, VP/Program Chair, announced presenter for October 15 general meeting will be Dale Martin, pastelist.



Randy announced door prizes - certificate for16x20 giclee from Dewey Douglas’ Ingraphic detail won by Jan Duke. Wolf print won by Judy Bridewell.

Two of Sharon Allred’s small pieces won by Debbie Haney & Elaine Cerveny.
